Happy Mother's Day - From the Procrastinator Dads

Writer: R&R Real PerspectiveR&R Real Perspective

May 10th, 2020 - Day whatever of quarantine. The days are blending together, the kids are getting on each other's nerves, the petty arguments have increased to a fever pitch. Happy Mother's Day! Today is the long-awaited day we Dads (should) have planned as an opportunity to reset everything and provide Mom with some sanity-reviving R & R.

A usual early May scramble to find the perfect gift, or at least something we haven't gotten you before, has been replaced with a new excuse..."I'm sorry, I couldn't get you what you what I was planning." It's true, I used this statement the other day, and I felt like A-Hole as the words fell from my mouth. It was a lie...I procrastinated again. I could have been sneaky and gone up town for a present, I could have shopped online, I could have made something or made plans. I didn't. I let days pass without devising a plan to show my/our appreciation for my wife! Dang...pure laziness and selfishness.

Mothers, specifically you Lindsey, we are sorry! We are by nature procrastinators (most of us), but that is no excuse! You deserve something to show how extremely appreciative we are of how you take care of all of us! The truth is, Mother's Day is the single most-dreaded day of the year for us! It's the day we HAVE to do ALL of the chores, without question...and solo. It's the day we realize how hard you work to keep us going every day. To keep us clothed, fed, clean, in line and moving forward. How are we supposed to compete with the perfection you've implement for 364 consecutive days? The one day we are in charge, we worry the wheels are going to fall off the proverbial bus. Gum will magically find its way into our kids hair, the kitchen will burn in the flames of our ruined concoctions we wanted to call dinner, our clothes will all be pink and two sizes too small. We can't compete, but today...on this Day of Days, we must try.

We will fold the mountains of laundry, we will make sure our kids are clean and fed, we will do our best to provide you a comfortable, Restful and Relaxing day. Today you get to be a Dad! Be worry-free and pop a cold one with the girls at 5! ;)

In reality, every day is Mother's Day, and you deserve more of our help in the monotonous chores than we typically provide. You fill our homes and our lives with so much more than previously mentioned . The truth is, those are the only things we can truly help with. The unconditional love, the security you provide us, the laughter and humor (allegedly) you provide...these are the things we cherish the most and cannot replace on any day. You honestly are what keep us on the right path. Yes presents are just a small way of showing our appreciation, but we all know a present isn't what you seek. You seek our unabated appreciation, our love, our willingness to learn from and assist you in every way. We are and always will be right by your side, loving you to the moon and back.

Happy Mother's Day. To all of you, especially you Lindsey!
